Tyler Woman Arrested In Cumby On Controlled Substance Charge

A 22-year-old Tyler woman was jailed Saturday evening after being found Cumby police found prescription medication in a Tylenol bottle in her possession, according to police reports.

Cumby Police Officer Zack Steward reported stopping a Chevrolet 1500 pickup about 4:15 p.m. Oct. 26 on Commerce Street after noticing the woman driving didn’t have on a safety belt. The driver was identified as 22-year-old Montasia Ry Coughlin of Tyler, Steward noted in arrest reports.

After contacting her, the officer alleged the woman opened the console and he observed a firearm in the pickup. She was reportedly asked to get out of the pickup and for permission to search the vehicle.

A pill container with an Adderall and a Tylenol bottle with several Xanax and several Ecstasy pills were allegedly found in the truck, resulting in Coughlin’s arrest for possession of 1 gram or more but less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 2 controlled substance, Steward wrote in arrest reports.

She remained in the county jail Monday morning. Bond was set at $10,000 on the felony charge, according to jail reports.
