An Interstate 30 vehicle pursuit from Hunt into Hopkins County ended in Chili’s parking lot Sunday.
According to law enforcement reports, local authorities were alerted just before 12:30 p.m. July 4, 2021, that Texas Department of Public Safety out of Hunt County was pursuing an eastbound vehicle on I-30. Local authorities became alert for the vehicle. The pursuit reportedly continued east along I-30 east alternately on the highway and service road as it continued at a high rate of speed through Cumby toward Sulphur Springs, with officers from multiple agencies joining the chase.
The fleeing motorist reportedly crossed South Broadway Street in Sulphur Springs and drove into Chili’s parking lot, where it was parked among the mostly filled parking lot, facing east. Several local officers pulled in behind the vehicle and made contact with what were reported to be two adults inside of it.
The Hunt County DPS officers reportedly detained at least one person upon taking over the investigation. At least one person was reported to have been placed in DPS custody. No one was jailed in Hopkins County following the incident. No additional information was available Monday morning regarding the pursuit.
